Claustrophobia is a fear of confined spaces. People who have irrational fear avoid lifts, tunnels, tube trains, and public toilets.  Avoiding the problem is not a solution. Some people who are afraid of confined spaces face mild anxiety symptoms meanwhile some have to go through severe circumstances. A survey reveals the fact that 10% of the UK population avoids confined spaces in life. The fear of losing control is common among claustrophobic patients.

Human is a complex organism. The psychological state is different of all human beings. Some people are afraid of water, some of the height, and some of the confined places. Childhood trauma or environmental condition could be the reason for claustrophobia.

The human brain is tricky. It has the ability to stop our productivity or make us lose consciousness by creating an imaginary vision. Fear leads to failure and week approach in daily life activities.

What cause fear of confined spaces

Childhood events, medical history of parents, or environmental factors play a major role in developing and boosting claustrophobia.

Children are likely to develop claustrophobia if they are;

  • Abused or raped or bullied
  • Parents may have a medical history
  • If they were trapped in confined spaces

There are exceptions over what can cause fear of confined spaces. Some people start chilling merely by thinking of closed spaces without any exposure. Their brains are too strong to make them breathless by producing an image.

A child who has trapped in childhood when he was plying hide and seek with other kids could be claustrophobic later in life.

It is also possible parent condition has affected the child and now he started behaving in a similar manner. It is also possible some spoiled brats have caged a child in confined space later he made release but that incident left a print and now he is anxious over closed spaced.

Treating Claustrophobia

Cognitive-behavioral therapy can help in removing fear. Self-therapy techniques are also recommended. You gradually start facing a situation that makes you terrified. If circumstances are not under control self-help isn’t sufficient then goes for a general psychologist.

A series of meditation and counseling will help in a better way.

The human brain is vast and complex. The mental illness should take seriously before it takes the life of someone.

It should consider as important as we take other physical illnesses. The human brain is equally important as vital organs. It can be sick and it can be treated. All you need is little consideration and a good expert. No matter either you have an aquaphobia, acrophobia, or claustrophobia. They all are treatable.
